I've been trying to get a test drive in an OCtavia Mk3 VRS TDI, My local dealer in Oswestry is struggling to get me one to try, but I do really want to test one before I place my order, does anyone have any ideas of any local (ish) dealerships where I may be able to get a test drive?

I have test driven the new Golf GTD, and was really impressed I just want to make sure the Skoda is as good, or nearly as good - considering the great saving of the Skoda over the VW.

I was under the impression almost all the vRS demonstrators are TDI estates (blue, with pictoris and spare wheel)... I'm assuming you've phoned round other dealers nearby?

When i was looking last month all everyone had was petrols....

Heh, weird, I wanted to drive (and order) a petrol, drove a diesel, ordered a diesel!

Who needs a test drive, I've had that manyVAG group cars I don't bother with test driving them anymore you know what you are getting, I would suggest if you've tested the GTD go ahead and just order the VRS they will be very similar.

Very true, i wasn't going to bother but the dealer offered so i thought why not

Cheers guys, I realise that at the moment only the estates are avialable anyway and I'm after a hatch, I might just go for it! The deal on the skoda is such great value I can take the hit if its not quite as good as the golf at the price!

There's now a diesel vrs at Mitchell's which is not ages from Oswestry

Not that it's close to you but may help someone, Sparshatts of Botley, near Southampton have two demo Vrs's, one petrol manual and a diesel DSG.

Listers in Coventry (CV7 9FU) have a VRS TDi Estate in candy white.  I test drove it last Saturday and placed an order.  Very nice car.  Dealer was ok, as far as dealers go.  Wouldn't offer much of a discount though.  Very hard going.

Have you tried booking through the Skoda website.

I did a few years ago and I had the car of my choice for 4 days which was dropped off at my local dealers.

I did just that - no one called me back arranging the test drive. I waited 2 weeks then went to dealers myself to arrange one.

To top it off, SUK rang me 1 month later to ask if I had taken the test drive they arranged for me.

Still bought a vRS mind.
