Brodit active phone cradle installed - where to route cable?

Have a close look at the third picture in the link.

Yeh I did. Cant see any evidence of the alignment being out on the top box - looks flush. I can only assume that the cable must be pretty thin / flat. Also, I would have expected the gap created by the cable to compromise the Brodit holding on properly since the trim wont be clamping down tight on it (assuming the cable is routing at the same place where the Brodit mounts).

Thanks. Cables go Into the back of the Bolero - dedicated wiring kit for car phone. Luckily the cable runs up behind the facia for the Bolero (there is a step at the bottom where the aircon controls are). As a result, the facia isn't compromised.

That's handy. Shame the Octavia doesn't have such a step.

It's been like that for 9k miles and hasn't budged. The Brodit is solid. The dash has a bit of give in it as it is a padded plastic and the cable squashes the plastic allowing the box to fit flush.

The cable is quite thick as it is a power cable and an antenna for the traffic receiver. It's probably 4mm diameter.

Don't see why you couldn't run the cable through the lowest vent of the right-hand side vent in the top box?

Ultimately I think I will try that in the first instance. Ordered a flat USB cable to give it a go. Once done I'll take some photos and report back.

Flick the top box out and take a look and I think you've got a result there. Easy to remove once you've done it a few times.

Just remember to disconnect the hazard switch, and then you can re-connect that to the cable while the box is out. You can get an error logged if you leave it disconnected and then switch the ignition on.

Before I do all this I may need to work out if this is actually the correct position to have the phone in. I get a tonne of electro magnetic interference through the speakers when making and receiving calls using the Fiscon BT module with the phone here (but not when streaming over A2DP). I usually grab it out of the holder and stick it in my pocket during calls to get rid of the interference. Not sure if that's normal or not?

Could it be

A) the location of the cradle interferring with the speakers

B) location of the phone interferring with the Bolero

C) location of the phone interfering with the Fiscon

D) the location of the power lead (phone does it even when the cable is unplugged but the cable is still live although not connected to the phone)

E) any of the above

F) something else.

Need help ruling out a few things before ripping out the Fiscon to replace with an OEM module! I.e I change the module and nothing else: will the static issue go away? Hmmm..

Think it could be tbe location of the phone to the Bolero, although I don't get any interference where mine is. Similar to Fiscon mine is also connected over BT.
