which engine in 2009 vrs?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking at trading my 2006 pertol vrs for a 2009 or 2010 model.  Could anyone let me know if this will definitely have the newer chain cam engine rather than belt and also what the oil consumption is like on the newer engine.

Many thanks,

Matt

It's pretty reliable to say that a fl will have a tsi and a pre fl will have a tfsi. With tsi having a chain. Dead giveaway is the engine cover as it tells you. Ignore the adverts as for some reason they always state tfsi.

(So chances are all the ones you are looking at are tfsi)

Can't help on the oil as I've not really had mine long enough.

I've done @60k in mine from new and have never added a drop of oil myself. its on variable service.

Definitely the ccza (ea888) engine - i.e. newer chain driven TSI.

Some of the last pre-fl vRS got the newer engine, including interior.

The facelift started in 2009 so I suspect the ones he looked at come with the Tsi. Also, the limited edition pre-fl had the Tsi fitted as well.
