Fitting my new silicone PCV hose :( Broken pipe

Featured Replies

So I bought myself anew PCV hose after finding the old one had perished. Lovely silicone thing from creationsmotorsport.

Removing the old parts to fit the new one and whil taking out the T-peice, the pressure on the lower breather pipe caused it to snap.

Anyone have a clue how I can remove the leftovers of the pipe.

Thanks

From memory the pipe just has an o ring on it, pushes in, and should have a clip going through those slots. I can't see the clip, have you already removed it? The pipe should just pull out

I've remove the clip from the slots. But the pipe is very stuck in place.

It won't budge gripping it with my fingers. It won't spin round or anything.

If the rubber's started to rot, it might just be sticky/tacky.. get some pliers on it. :)

When I went over to a oil catch can I replaced that r/angle spigot with a new one.

Try injecting a very small amount of penetrating oil down the side between it and the aluminium casting, leave it for a couple of mins, plug the centre hole with a clean piece of cloth or tissue (prevents any plastic dropping into the sump) and very very carefully as has been suggested, using pliers pull upwards.

The part number for a replacement one is:-   06A 103 213F  (Breather Tube)

                                                                     N 904 673 01   (Round Seal  Dia 34.2 x 3)

                                                                    037 121 142A  (Retaining Spring)

Thanks guys, but no cigar.

Tried penetrating oil down the side, and then trying with pliers. It's like its super glued into place.

Is it still driveable like this. Think I'm gonna have to take it to a garage

Some pretty nasty fumes will probably waft into the cabin if you drive it like that tbh.

Windows open then!

The other end of the pipe has been off for a while. Fortunately it's only a mile or so to the garage too.

Probably more worried about anything going into the sump

Flat head screwdriver, small hammer (or ratchet) and some cloth to block the hole.

Gently break up the edge of the plastic, it will eventually break the seal it has made and you will get 3/4 of it out in 1 piece then.

Good old brute force. I'll have a go tomorrow morning while waiting for the part to arrive.

I dont know if you know but there is a brass liner (wall thickness approx.5mm) that extends up past the shoulder that the large 'o' ring butts up against. I will take a pic and upload it shortly.

It appears to extend upto where the external chamfer starts:-

Good Luck

Try and hammer a screwdriver or small chisel between the housing and the pipe. Hit is slightly into the pipe, it should split or bend it enough to unseize the o ring/corrosion

Finally I got it out!

A hammer and a blooming great screwdriver to fit past the manifold block.

Well that's saved me a lot of money at the garage! thanks all

One happy bunny. Just wait for the part to arrive now. :)

Thanks for all you help guys. This has finally fixed my car after around 3 years of problems and other parts being fitted.

I now finally have a big smile back on my face when driving my car again.
