AP Coilovers grinding

Featured Replies

When I was lowering the front a few weeks ago I saw what looked like the springs had been resting and grinding on each other, it's always had a sort of grinding and knocking noise at the front but I put that down to my console bushes being shot. Anyone else found this problem? Cheers

Mine clunk and knock i imagine its the same thing.

Yep - put some rubber tubing between the coils and it'll stop the noise :)

I know with my old type r the eibach springs had a rubber sleeve around them to stop the binding noise

I'm not happy like, contacted the shop I got the from it nothing comes of that I'll be ringing AP themselves. Surely not safe when the spring's are grinding the metal off each other one day they will just snap.

I'm sure the ones I fitted to a friends polo 9n3 gti (same chassis) had rubber sleeves on the front springs.

Is the car quite low?

its not stupid low as I use it on track and it's my daily or I know that would have been what caused it.
