the free map update and discounts on fresh maps etc are only valid for 30 days after PID is first attached to a car

this little gem can be forgotten by the dealers on handover

Oh dear my car is May registered :(

plug it in and try the fresh map one time update, worst it can say is no longer valid

if not it is £80 for the 2 year fresh maps and £25 for 1 year of speed camera updates

Hi, is it worth having the fresh maps?? I did try to update entered the code and came out of the payment screen. It said a total of 80% discount. Yes its valid for 30 days so can go back.

depends on how much you use the PID for navigation

if you use it little then possibly not,

but for £18 for 2 years I personally would say no brainer considering what we have paid for the cars

like wise £12.50 for a year for the safety camera data, not sure I would pay full price for either of the updates once these offer periods run out

one interesting point is if you pay for the safety camera updates it warns you even if you are not in navigation mode, so if you jump in turn it to media or car info it still says "BEWARE WATCH YOUR SPEED"

mine is the new Garmin pid, is yours the older navigon unit?

Well, I upgraded to the new firmware a few days ago and all appeared well on the first outing.  I had been troubled by the speed camera voice readjusting it's volume mid-sentence.  It used to shout "BEWARE!"  then much quieter (at the volume I had set) "…watch your speed".  The update sorted that straightaway so I was pleased.

However, there are more problems than before, ones which are really annoying.  My bluetooth connection comes on a few seconds after starting the ignition but it drops immediately.  It then appears and disappears for the first 5 minutes of the journey so I can't listen to my podcasts from my iPhone.  As my journey to work is only 10-15 minutes I spend almost as much time waiting for the connection to stop dropping as I do travelling.

Also, I have my music stored on SD card set to random play.  Now, when I switch to SD card the last song played is displayed but won't begin playing, the thing just hangs.  I have to select the CD, let it begin playing, then reselect the SD card and it will then play music.  Unfortunately it will only play the album it stuck on - I have to delve into the file structure to take it back to the master file with all the music on it before it will shuffle along again.  This happens EVERY TIME I switch it on!

Obviously, to go through all that I need to be stationary in the car, it's not something you can do while driving and it's a real pain in the neck.

I've looked at the Garmin website for support but none of the drop down lists show the Skoda PID.  The Navigon website doesn't show much more and simply says that if the unit isn't working properly to do a reset and download the latest software!

I've put it back to factory settings but FRESH won't let me download any maps without first re-updating the firmware.

Anyone any ideas - I feel like handing the car back!

Unfortunately it will only play the album it stuck on - I have to delve into the file structure to take it back to the master file with all the music on it before it will shuffle along again.  This happens EVERY TIME I switch it on!

Mine has always done that :(  I have the files in sub folders (pop/rock/mellow/  eg /pop/band name/album1/song.mp3) and it seems like it doesnt know the folders are there at first. Maybe if they were all dumped in at the top level (/album/song1.mp3 )it might be more reliable. But I prefer the option to choose genre then album.

Bluetooth on ours now pretty much useless, ipod and phone will set up, ut phone will now not allow you to download phonebook or setting and ipod says connected but pid not, so can't play any music from ipod

not a good update, hopefully a new update with fixes will be along shortly to resolve

new software version out (GARMIN UNITS)

7.13.10, hopefully an improvement on 7.13.9 that turned our PID into pile of poo,

downloading and installing now will report back later, hopefully it will fix all the Bluetooth issues we have had with the last update

Bluetooth is working flawlessly for me on 7.13.10.

ipod nano g7 will not connect :(

Same issues as ever, dropping connection for first 5 mins of use and still not remembering SD settings after switching off.

Seems like Garmins are worse than Navigon.
