Superb MOT question - rear door won't open.

Featured Replies

Hi.

My rear drivers door will not unlock, would this be a cause to fail an MOT?

All of the other doors, the door pin will pop up and they unlock, the faulty one doesn't. From the inside, you pull the handle, it raises the door pin but the door won't open. I believe the cause was the water ingress issue.

Any thoughts welcome.

(ps - apologies if any rules have been broken, I have posted this within another member's question without reply)

Superb Edition 100.

Thanks

Yes, rear doors now have to be openable to pass the MOT. I had exactly this on my B5.5 Passat (same base car).

I never did get it fixed as it was intermittent and wasn't needed to pass back then.

Cheers for the info, it started off intermittently and is now permanent.  Car is about 8years old with over 100k.  MOT due in December and the second change of the cam belt, so I need to decide what to do. Love the car, but finances are grim at the minute.
