Which is the most wanted turbocharger for VAG cars ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

not sure if this is the right forum to post such a question but can't see better place.

Ok so as some of you already know I can supply rebuild hybrid turbochargers. The question is what are the most common or the most wanted models for Skoda or VAG cars in general? Or if not turbo model the engine code would help much as well. This way I would know what is worth keeping in stock and cut the waiting time for buyers to minimum. What do you think?

Garret turbos are sought after, 1.9TDi PD engines. Can I have a free one for the info

there is several Garrett turbos used in TDI range the question is which ones are the most popular? I know that GTB2260vk are on high demand but these are difficult to source. Regarding the free turbo for you, get me customers for 15 1749vc hybrids and I will get you one for free ;) deal?

sure but I need more specifics, engine codes or turbo exact model/part number there is so many different models out there that I can't just phone the company and say: Hey get me 10 k03s for tomorrow as they come with different manifolds shapes etc. as far as I know

Och aye  * scurries off to begin a group buy ;)

Can you make hybrid turbos?

Re read it and yes you can :)

Ok I have picked up a pd150 turbo from an arl golf. Oem code is 03G253016R and the turbo is a gt1749vb I believe.

I would like to get it made into a stage 2 hybrid turbo.

Turbo dynamics offer this:

MDX376-X - Stage 2 Hybrid Turbo comprises:

Bespoke Turbo Dynamics designed Billet Compressor Wheel

Re-profiled compressor housing to suit

360 degree thrust bearing

Modified turbine wheel blades to reduce backpressure

Blueprinting of turbo to motorsport standards

Estimated Power Output: Approx 240-260 BHP

What sort of service could you offer?

no, not me personally but I can source some, you can PM me with details I will see what I can do

Diesel 2.0 seem to have more problems than the 1.9

I must admit that Turbo dynamics spec sounds impressive and I'm sure their turbos are one of the best in the market however we both know their prices... Now if your turbo is in good working order I bet you can sell it for like £200? easily. For £350 I can offer you a GT1749VC hybrid (Passat PD170) fitted into ARL GT1749vb shell (sandblasted, balanced etc. looks like new and with 6 months warranty).

I've got one of these fitted in my own car (in GT1646V shell PD105 BXE) I can show you a RR printout if you are interested.

This would give you a potential of 200-215bhp maybe more depending on your setup. Billet wheel could be an option but I'm not pretty sure if they can get hold of one (my guess is it would cost like extra £100 or so) The question is how far are you planning to go and how much money do you want to spend? Assuming that this will go into your Fabia VRS the company supplying me is working on GTB2260vk to fit Fabia/Ibiza the price will be around £700-£800 don't know for sure yet, still - as we all know GTB potential - should be well worth the money.

Just to show you how would the hybrid looks like, here is a link to my add with AFN hybrid (with 1749vc internals):

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/288235-afnavg-hybrid-turbo-based-on-gt1749vc/ not much interest so far though that's why I've started this topic to find out which are the most popular/wanted models so I don't keep in stock some rare ones which can be made to order within 7-10 days if there is a buyer.

so I've heard but again there are multiple models like: BKD, BMN, BMM, BRD and so many more and the info I'm looking for is which specific models are the ones with failing turbos or which models are the most common and may need hybrids etc.

Ok thanks, I'm probably running close to 200 as it is, maybe a little more with a hybrid pd130. I picked up the pd150 for £300, which seems to be the going rate. The gtb route would also need the manifold etc, which will surely put the price up. I'm aiming for 230-240bhp, and I can get some money back from the current turbo

Re the GTB they are working on it will be already welded onto a manifold + probably downpipe flange will be included in the price, anyway I will advertise it as soon as I get one in hopefully in a 2 weeks time or so

Excellent. I look forward to it

Hi, I think a gt2260v is about optimal - Jason is running a 25 hot side which is quite laggy
