Bluetooth Module Confusion

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am trying to retrofit bluetooth to my Octavia but after searching many, many threads I am at a loss. First, some details of the car:

Octavia vRS TSi

Early 2011 (60)

Bolero (not sure if Blaupunkt or Delphi)

Maxidot

MFSW

Now, there seems to be an endless amount of VW bluetooth modules available.

Some seem to stream music, some don't, some do this, some do that, etc.

I believe the Blaupunkt Bolero has some issues with phonebook display, is the bluetooth module specific or does it apply to all modules?

I've also noticed a 'premium' bluetooth module which reads out texts, will this one work?

I ideally want a module where I can receive / make calls (obviously), control everything via maxidot or the stereo, stream music and see artist info and maybe an SMS readout functionality (although this isn't critical).

Also, what coding is required afterwards?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Stu.

Stu what phone do you want to connect. I believe 7P6 rev l would be okay. Give Eddie-NL a pm he should point you in the right direction.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2

5K0 035 730 D (or prefixes above D) will do for all you want on your car, apart from text readout, and this is equivalent to the 7P6 unit that Simon mentions I believe.  Technically you can also use the moire expensive premium unit (5N0 035 730 D or above) which will give you the text functionality via RSAP, which I believe your phone supports.  But it is quite a bit more expensive.

Does anyone know of a good place to buy the full bluetooth kit?
I've had a look on ebay and they seem to be going for around £200, is that a fairly normal price?

carsystems.pl - bluetooth kits

i retrofitted the 9wz (the premium one which can also do rsap) kit in mine.  note & pics here.

it works very nicely with my wife's galaxy s2 - full functionality in rsap mode, i.e. sms, reception, battery saver.
