Mitsi L200/Pickup insurance

Featured Replies

So my dad wants a new motor, he can no longer justify the £100 LEZ cost visiting my Grandma each month. I might be having his L200 off him, pending finding reasonable insurance. Anyone got any good companies to try, looked on confused but it's not listed, guess its classed as a commercial truck. I'll have another hunt about but thought I'd ask

Cheers

Matt

AFAIK all insurers class them as commercial vehicles. This usually pushes the premium up :(

Yup, Dad just told me he is 51, max NCB and still paying £600!   Damn I fancied having something almost big enough to drive over the fabia lol

Not all companies classify them as CV.

Try LV (Frizzell).

We paid under £200 fully comp on a new navara with business use.

You need to shop around lots though !!!

Try More Than, just got a quote for £1150 for one :)

I drive a Navara, got my insurance through Direct Line. SDP as I don't need it for a business use.

£210 fully comp and PNC.

Worth a try if you are not using it for your work.

Wow thats good, I'll have to try the companies mentioned. I'm only 24 so I dont expect it to be mega cheap but sub £1000 would be nice if possible. All my NCB are on the Fabia just now so that doesnt help.

Cheers all!

Made a few calls, everyone I spoke to said how it's a small market, under 25, "commercial" used as a daily, no NCB etc etc so I was anticipating a large sum.

Started at £1900 and slowly came down, got to about £950 and though it wasnt too bad. Then spoke to another company, just over £600! :D Result.

Spoke to my dad, he/we are still hunting for his next motor, he was going to just phone up the bloke in the paper offering to buy cars for cash once he had got the new one. It needs a few rubber gaiters listed as advisories on the last MOT but aside from that it wants for nothing, he gets everything sorted as soon as it's needed and uses his motorbike 9/10 days for work. The only real work the truck does is take his track bike on track days and go to scotland a few times a year. I think it's done a fair few miles but I know it's solid so seems like a no brainer to me, saves the Fabia getting stuck in the snow. I know they're not very good on road but it's a fun motor.

Cheers for the replies ladies and gents!

Matt

result, Matt
