Front indicator bulbs - PY24W or PH24WY?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for either silver/chromed bulbs or LEDs to replace my front indicators.

The manual says the bulbs are PY24W

but the bulb itself is marked PH24WY

Anyone point me towards suitable replacements?

Thanks

I'd trust what is actually stamped on the bulb over the known inaccuracies of Skoda manuals!

Mine (MY13 Superb Combi) are like the bottom one.

Here's a pic from when I took it out.  Note that it's held in with a torx screw.  You'll need to remove the screw before you can get the bulb out.

Thanks for the replies. Above is identical to mine which are definitely PH24WY.

To further muddy the water, some sellers on Fleabay cite the PY24W as a replacement for the PH24WY, which is interesting considering the base is totally different and considerably larger (unless I'm missing something here?)

Anyone know of (or using) direct replacement LEDs that don't give CANBUS errors?

Nope, I haven't found any LEDs so I'm just making them myself.

Where can I get replacements for this bulb, other than a dealer? Have tried Halfrauds and a couple of local motor factors, none of which stock them. I've only seen one on fleabay priced at  £13 - is this the going rate, or is the seller upping the price because these bulbs are like rocking horse ****?

Ideally I'd like LEDs or silvered incandescent bulbs, but right now I'd settle for bog-standard replacements.

Is the bulb the same as the one used in the PY24W (pictured at the top of this topic), and can they be swapped between casings?

Not the same, I suppose you could try to swap the glass bulb but it's probably glued in so I don't like your chances.
