Sudden jerk on moving the car from a stopped position.

Featured Replies

I have a 5 year old Skoda octavia 1.9TDI PD DSG (2008) and it has done 28000 miles. There is a noticeable sudden jump/ jerk when I move the car from a stopped position.. The transmission, once I move is smooth and seamless. The sudden jerk is not apparent when I shift the gear to N and then shift it to D before moving the car. This has been going on for a while and I didn't make much notice of it.

It has not had a gear oil change and some say it is sealed for life.

A diagnostic test done by skoda says that I need to change my mechatronics hydraulic block, ECU, gear oil change, Gasket change etc with an estimated quote of £1700. I think this is pure rip off and perhaps a simple oil change might do the trick. Any ideas anyone?

Sticking brake pads onto discs??

I haven' thought about it. But one more thing to check.

Does it feel like it does when the hill brake thing is doing it's magic? When I pull away ona  hill after the brakes have been applied there is a bit of a jerk as the brakes are coming off. Maybe yours thinks it's always on a hill?

Yeah, I guess so. Do you have any suggestions how I can get rid of it? Please.

Well you can disable Hill Start with a VAGCOM, that would  at least let you see if it makes any difference.

Did your garage want to change all those other parts to fix this? or just generally wanted to do it?

EDIT: does it do the same in reverse? and does it do the same when you are starting up/down a hill?
