SD card

Featured Replies

Anyone got the canton system and the sd slot, which size card works the best with the system bearing in mind im going for the extreme card with a faster speed.

Secondly i've just be told that it is built as of last friday, does anybody have any idea as to how long it'll take to reach my uk dealer.

Many thanks for the help

You can get a 32Gb Class 10 SD Card from eBuyer.com for about £13.  It'll be plenty fast enough and you'll be able to fit plenty of music on there too.

Or if you want something branded have a look on 7dayshop or Amazon and look for Sandisk. A bit more money, but you're buying a reputable name, not an anonymous card.

The Columbus system can take up to 2 cards of 128Gb each -It really isn't worth paying out extra for an Extreme card, one from the 'Ultra' range will do you fine -the speed of the card is much more important for writing (in digital cameras shooting RAW pictures and high speed video) than reading as it will be used in the Columbus. I put a 32Gb card in mine but filled it up, so have ordered a 64Gb Ultra -hopefully by the time I need a 128Gb, prices will be a bit more reasonable.

Thanks for taking the time to reply very helpful

I use 16GB Sandisk 2 pieces so I can put new things on one and leave one in the car in case I forget the other one.

Will the scandisk sd video card be the one I require?

I just ordered this one: SanDisk 32GB 45MB/s Extreme HD Video SDHC Card from Amazon, I might use it for music, then again I may buy a Roadhawk HD camera & use it in that.

I think that I'll be using my phone to stream the music as I haven't been overly impressed with the way the audio systems have dealt with large numbers of music files/folders.

FYI, the £13 32gb card from Ebuyer is a Lexar branded card, which is a brand name of Micron, one of the leading memory manufacturers. All nicely retail packaged, class 10, 30mbps, SDHC. Probably a bit of overkill for what's actually required for the car stereo.
