I am rather surprised that Audi have finally stuck the RS badge on an SUV/crossover.

It seems to me a marketing stunt that devalues the RS badge, just designed to boost profits.

 

I understoof the S Q5, it's a quicker Q5 and it kept the RS badge as the enthusiasts choice.

Agreed. S should be the top spec for that format of vehicle - as you say the S Q5 makes sense (although the naming convention doesnt do it for me) but an RS model should be a no compromise fast road model.

Not really up to speed with the Audis, but at £43,000 that sounds a bit steep, what would a 1 year old RS4 Avant cost? Mid 40's maybe? I'd stick my money in that all day long - if I had any 

A one year old RS4 would be between 45-55k I guess depending on spec and with 3,000 - 9,000 miles on the clock

Totally wrong........ An S badge would have been acceptable on the hottest Q3.

 

SQ5 makes sense as it does at least have 'proper' quattro.........

Audi are contributing £7k off a new RS4 at the moment. So a base spec can be yours for £48k brand new,

Thats before any dealer discounts which I understand could be up to £3k. Should be able to spend that on a few choice options

As an RS owner I think this is Audi whoring out the brand with this one. It's not even very quick.

You can get a poor spec RS 4 for late 40s but as with all Audis you need them specced, especially an RS. You need to spec a minimum of 5k IMO. I think my RS has 20k of options on it!

To be honest does it really matter what badge is on the back of the car these days, especially audi's. it not as if the RS badge on them as any real history or pedigree that goes back years like cosworth. must people who start saying it dilutes the brand will never

have an audi RS including my self as i could never afford one.
