Lambda sensor

Featured Replies

Hi all

my engine light come on today did a quick check via ob port and it said

Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)

Is that the lambda sensor? and is it before or after the cat (if it has two)

2002 Vrs

Would Part Number: 1K0 998 262 A fit

Thank you

Looked under the car and there is one lambda before the cat and another that looks like it's on top in the middle

I would be checking for air leaks first before throwing a probe at it

No air leaks checked this first had all new silicon hoses

Would a faulty recercerlated dump vale Throw up the code as sometimes it will open on its own

Yes it s the lamda before the cat.I have already change one and now i m ready for another one because of engine light

You can clear the fault code and watch if comes back again

If this happen you have to change it

Where is the best place to get one from and is there a link ;)

Chuw vrs,

I replaced mine very recently. There is bosch equivalent out there. you can have it shipped from US for as little as 50$ but i got OEM for 112 GBP. skodaparts.com is your best bet and you can replace it yourself.

let me know if you need pictures

That code is not for the sensor, but for the CAT. The ECU measures lambda before and after the cat. If both sensors read the same reading (eg. Broken cat, inefficient cat, missing cat etc), it'll throw the code up.

EDIT: What's the fault code?
