needing a few bits and bobs..

Featured Replies

hi, theres a couple of things i'm looking to do to my fabia. First whats the best tyres people would recommend, will need a new set for the winter. Next a job for next year.. best place that someone would recommend to get the car painted in scotland ? Also, when i start the car after its been sitting for about 9 hours or so at work.. its like it is struggling to start, hard to explain.. but was wondering if it sounds anything like a problem with the glow plugs ? also saying 'inspection' next to the service spanner on the little screen, just serviced it about 3500 miles ago and reset the service light, any help would be appreciated cheers!

Buggered battery maybe?

Service indicator reset - push in trip button ,switch on and hold trip for 10 secs . if you get oil ,repeat . You don't mention age of car, but around 5 -6 years ,i'd suspect battery . Most tyre/exhaust places will test it for you  as will AA/RAC if you're a member .

If oil appears after service, just keep it held in, don't have to turn repeat it again.

so far so good with the service indicator, cheers

Forgot to mention - if AA/RAC test battery and it's iffy- don't let them go till you get car started. Daughter had this. Car wouldn't start -called AA. By time AA appeared ,battery had recovered. Next money making scheme - dip oil after engine was switched off. of course oil would be low . ( But he tried it on a biker lady ,who was a bit up on her stuff). Then he tested battery ,and it was iffy. After this ,he started to go .I pulled him back to check car would start . Good job- he'd flattened battery with his test, andit needed a jump. I suggested to daughter that patrolman needed a strong complaint, but then I'm a GOS.

thanks, i would probably never go as far as phoning the aa or rac, thats money i cant justify really. Got a mate who has a little recovery truck which (touch wood) i've never needed him to uplift a car for me yet.
