Engine high revs between 1st and 2nd gear

Featured Replies

My sisters fabia vrs is high reving between 1st and 2nd gear but then is fine when going up from 2nd all the way to 6th..any idea what could be causing this ????

Perhaps you'd be able to better explain what the problem is. I may be reading it wrong, but its not clear to me what you're trying to describe.

Do you mean it feels like it revs faster?

It's a bit hard to explain if I'm honest. Its just that split second in between the gear change from 1st to 2nd that you can hear the engine rev high but then going up to 6th there is no high revs in between the gears only between 1st and 2nd.Its not down to driving style as I have a vrs too and my sister noticed it when coming home from work. Its a puzzle but any advice is welcome before she takes it to the garage..thanks

Do you mean when you dip the clutch to change gear the revs rise instead of falling to idle??

That's it yes......

I know diesels can suck up their own oil and rev like mad if they're over filled with oil but seems weird it only does it 1st to 2nd. Have you tried coming completely off the throttle then depressing clutch to change gear to rule out a delay in the throttle or something?
