ASZ engine code?

Featured Replies

Can anyone enlighten me on wether the person named is actually classed as a trader, or a private individual?

I only ask as I'm considering a hybrid for swmbo's vRS, and to me it appears he is supplying as a trader (thinking warranties etc)

I have bought a hybrid from xman750 and it seems to be of a good standard yet to fit so can't comment on power wise ect

I had my Garrett pd130 hybided using pd170 internals (have propper pics in my build thread)

It cost me £370. I supplyed the pd130 turbo which was knackred and came free with my engine (Garrett not the KKK the VRS comes with)

£350 Isnt too cheap to be true. Its just ALOT of companys overcharge with massive profit margins because they are greedy $$$$ (no names mentioned ;) )

And to agree with Pastyboy. It is a pointless upgrade without a remap/ clutch/ flywheel/ FMIC upgrade. I fitted mine over a year ago and have been slowly adding the supporting mods before getting it remapped (which was abit of a daft idea lol :D). mine without a map is slower than a standard pd130 atm because of the extra lag getting the bigger turbo (internals) spooling up.. but is faster at the top end :)

Yeah the ones supplied by xman are a pd130 garret with pd170 internals, gets fitted 31st and also mapped that day and ordering the clutch tomorrow so going in the right direction :)

Turbo's come from poland so its cheaper than ripoff uk industry!

Turbo's come from poland so its cheaper than ripoff uk industry!

The turbos are made by Garrett which isnt Polish as far as i remember :D

Dont know about the guy selling on here but mine was build and balanced by "The Turbo Clinics" in Leeds (UK) by a British bloke working for a british company. I know him as he used to work for VW Leeds.. They were busy with hundreds of turbos in bits + being build/ balanced. Most were being repaired + some hybrided. He rebuilt a PD150 for my m8 at the same time for £330 (didnt hybid it) both had 1 year Warranty.

It goes to show u can make money in the UK without ripping people off making out your a "Tuning company" so u can charge more for effectively the same turbo that can be built for sub £200 ;)

Wonder if you can't buy all performance upgrades from Poland for cheaper

Wonder if you can't buy all performance upgrades from Poland for cheaper

well in general things which require some work to put in before they are sold like the said turbos are definitely cheaper due to lower manufacturing costs. However there are many things which have to be simply imported as are manufactured in the US, UK and other countries and are even more expensive than here. For example HFLOX injectors nozzles, LSD differentials, Sachs performance clutches and so on.

Regarding the hybrids reliability and possible failures and warranty problems. It's not being 6 months yet since I've started selling them however I have had PD150 hybrid installed in my Octavia ALH 90bhp nearly 2 years ago and mapped to 165bhp (with .216 nozzles) so far so good it's now sold to my father and I'm pretty sure it will run fine for a long time...

then I've installed PD170 one in September this year in my Octavia BXE PD105 which is now mapped to 175bhp/400Nm with stock injectors again no issues so far. I haven't had a single complaint abut the hybrids yet. The bloke I'm dealing with is very honest person so I don't think that he would reject a genuine warranty claim for no reason. The warranty is with me but it's based on the turbo inspection by the builder as I'm not really qualified to do that, anyway I'm dealing with any claims personally so it's not like anyone will be left alone with the turbo and a phone number to call...

So far I had two GTB2260vk turbochargers returned to me: one died of oil starvation and the warranty was void however I have offered another one at a cost price to keep the customer happy, the other one had no stop screw installed which is not really hard to do on its own but I've refunded the payment in full and sent it back to my supplier to inspect it install the stop screw and it will be up for sale again.

For those who are interested in the hybrids here is a RR printout of my car with the PD170 based BXE hybrid fitted:

So just to be clear I'm not saying that the hybrids I'm selling are the best you can get or anything, but are reasonably priced and comes from a supplier I can rely trust and rely on and I've tested them on my own cars first before I've offered them to anyone else.

BTW Paul did you have a chance to fit and map yours yet ?

I have but I've had it limited for now and the maps not the best but still produced 196bhp :)
