CR 170 Remap

Featured Replies

With my Blackline now 12 months old I'm thinking about a stage 1 remap and I guess there are others contemplating this option too. My initial looks on tinternet have thrown up Shark and Superchips as offering what seem to be similar options from just under £400 to £500 for their map and hand held gizmo. Both are within reasonable travelling distance (or one of their approved tuners is) for me in the Midlands

So I'd like to hear from anyone who's had their CR170 remapped about their experience, how noticable the difference is, what they like, anything they don't, how it now drives compared to before for usability etc and what it's done to the fuel consumption.

I've spoken to superhips who say they have to take the ECU out of the car to reprogram it so wondered if that will need doing on all the others too. So far Shark haven't rung me back...

Details on any recommended independants you know of in the midlands would be welcome too

Also what impact it's had on your insurance- did you have to change insurers if so who too and whether you moved or stayed put what the difference in the premium was.

Cheers

Ade

My Yeti 170 CR was mapped by Jabbasport and it did make a noticable difference.

It's put the fun factor back.

The stock 170 is very smooth, but once mapped you get a nice shove in the back and it holds boost much higher up the rev range.

I've never looked back, it reminds me of the mkI Fabia VRS a bit in that it's entertaining to drive rather than linear and a bit boring.

Just more grunt all the time.

My average fuel consumption is around 47mpg.

Not sure what it was before, but as it's a 1500kg 4x4 Yeti with naff aerodynamics I think that's fine for economy.

Real terms I can see over 50mpg if I drive carefully.

Insurance premium saw a £25 increase (about 8%)

Yes, I believe you do need to remove the ECU to do it.

A yeti with a remap and arbs is very fast!

And lots of fun. :)

I'm in the same boat as you littleade. I was looking at awesome because there closer to me but I'm steering towards shark even though there a bit more expensive because of the strong recommendations. They do have stockists all over the country one in Salford near me. My next bit of research is weather ill get the same quality of work and service if I use this garage rather then go to shark hq. Awesome charge £399 and shark £499. I'm just trying to weigh up all the pros and cons of each.

Same sort of boat as me then!

Richard, was yours a custom map out of interest as the CR isn't listed on jabbasports website - Peterborough's a bit far for me plus if I can get it done locally I should be able to get it in under the petticoat radar! :giggle:

Petticoat radar? Lol. I took my old fabia to Jabba. Don't get me wrong, loved the map but wouldn't travel that far again.

I think you'll find most "stage 1" maps are a set map and not custom as there are no supporting mods.

The result is around 200-205 bhp and more torque right through the rev range.

Jabba's website is a bit out of date and is currently being sorted.

Ok thanks Richard- that makes sense based on what I've found out so far. Thanks for the heads up on jabbas site.
