2013 Seat leon. what are your thoughts

Featured Replies

Was working around the corner from the skoda/Seat dealership today in Newport. Decided to call in to get a yeti brochure for the father in law. I decided to have a look at the new Leon and be honest I like the car,so thought I see what of figures they come up with and I'm happy with the figures. I'm looking at the 1.4tsi 138ps FR 3 door model which comes with the tech pack free until the 30th September. Took the demonstrator out and was quite pleased with it. So just looking at what others think about it. The press reviews are very positive,so very tempted

It's a very handsome car. A million times better looking than the last one. The tech pack includes the full LED headlamps iirc. Very Gucci. Have you been to see one in the metal? You can't really tell heat the interior is like from the website.

Overall I think its a nice car - possibly better value imo than an Octavia if you don't require the additional space. The only thing I don't like, from a design perspective is how the two swage lines on the side almost meet... they can look a little lost imo from some angles and makes the side on view look disjointed.

We've had a Seat for 6 years and been very happy with it. It's been 100% reliable with no warrenty claims or parts failures since, apart from a broken front spring (SWMBO's fault as she ignores speed humps!). Apart from servicing and the spring the only thing its had is tyres and rear brakeĀ pads.Ā Internal build quality isn't as good as the octy, but some of that could be related to it's age. The only thing it's poor on is rear visability. Boot space isĀ small compared to the Octy, but there again every competitor to the Octy is too. I like the handling of the Seat too, a good drivers car.Ā Ā I'd definatly consider anotherĀ one for SWMBO.

very nice car

I like it better than the new golf

when the ST (estate) is available I can see them selling and will be competition for the Octavia Estate

It is a great looking car.

Thanks for the replies. Going to pop back down today to have a 2nd test drive. Littleade, I can see where you are coming from regarding the rear visibility, but I drive a van day in day out. I did like the previous model, but I found the interior very bland and not exciting. As for spec, the only extras I would like, will be the convenience pack of auto headlights and wipers and a spare tyre. I'm looking at a stock car,so see what's about and if I have to purchase a spare tyre,so be it. £30 a year tax and 170 insurance, compared to the Octavia vrs petrol,so saving about 400 a year on that, plus the tyres are showing the signs of sawtoothing and tread is getting low on the front tyres,so rather change now, than put on new tyres and change the vrs at it's 2 year point next march. Don't get me wrong,I loved the vrs,but the new one isn't grabbing my attention. If I didn't have the mk2 fl vrs,I would buy one,but the mk3 us great car but doesn't scream out to me. Only decision now is what colour lol. I like the monsoon grey ideally but red is great as well and that is the free colour. White has a £175 cost. White looks ok but with standard alloys, looks a bit plain but with the black alloys it makes look a lot better. So I see what's in stock and see what's on offer. Thanks for your replies

Colleague has just got an FR with 185PS engine with every option ticked - 18ā€œ alloys, tech pack, winter pack, sotrage pack etc

Car doesn't look as good in the flesh, engine is sweet, build quality is better than previous SEATs and on par with my Skoda.

Ride is firm but not harsh, seats are half leather and comfortable, quite supportive.

Done the deal.went for the 1.4 tsi 138ps FR 3 door in monsoon grey with the convenience pack. Should be with me within 2 to 4 weeks

Preston,

Couldn't agree with your sentiments more regarding the mkIII. I do hopeĀ the hatchĀ looks better and they do something to differentiate it from the other octy models. I'm all for a bit of stealth but the mkIII vRS has gone a bit too far IMO.

Ā

Fully understand the financial benefits to be had too being a tighty myself!

Ā

I'm ok reversing our but it's got a few battle scars from SWMBO's efforts, it's a combination of big c pillars and small mirrors on ours thats the cause, but it's only a minor point on what was a recommended car from which and the new Leon does look a handsome beast

Ā

Never mind, Like coops says it should be a firmer ride than the octy but not overly so if ours is anything to go by. We had a cracking deal on ours so you might be able to get a tempting offer, especially if they haven't reached their targets this month. We got the pd engine for the same cost as the wheezy 1.6 petrol which at the time was a no brainer. Good look and let us know how you get on and give us a comparison between the 2

Ā

Ha, you beat me to it- well done bet your chuffed

Really nice on the outside, horrible black scratchy plastic on the inside. It's a shame.

I been thinking about the spare tyre situation. As my vrs was a stock purchase, and no spare was specified,I ordered a spare for it. It's basically a 16" tyre, but still classed as a space saver. I had a quick Google and in theory it will fit the Leon. Both pcd are 5x112 bore 57.1. Leon offset is 50. The vrs is 47 according to wheelfitment.eu. just like to know if I got my figures right regarding the vrs spare,as I can keep the spare and put it into my Leon and save me some money. Thanks

They do look nice. Only problem I have with Seat's is the interior quality, doesn't seem to match the skoda/vw/Audi equivalents
