Urgent help needed (Broken car in Cornwall)

Featured Replies

On my way driving on holiday my modified mk1 vrs has gone into limp and severely lacking power. Green flag called and under boost code stored in car. Recently had a hybrid 150 turbo etc and mapped accordingly. I am now in falmouth and keen go get the car looked at to try and get the car sorted so i can drive about safely.

I have booked the car in with celtic tuning on tuesday, as i suspect its a problem with the fueling change with my remap as was recently rolling roaded and under performed and smoked the world oit.

My help is anyone around falmouth with any other tuner reccomendations or views on celtic? Or anyond who could plug into my car properly to check values etc. Alot to ask but any help would be amazing. Thanks in asvance olly.

P.s fault with car is lack of power and partial limp home! Didnt explain myself well! Lol

does it reset with a turn off/ on of the ignition for a while then return?

what lamps illuminated on dash?

Unplug the maf make any difference?

I would imagine it has something to do with the work you have had done recently

No lights at all on dash, and makes no difference when re starting car. I have a feeling it's a poor map or an issue with all work done recently. I will try unplugging maf to see if helps but suppose with have eml on dash then. If I was at home I could have it fixed easily but 280 miles away on holiday I'm screwed! Lol Thanks for the help guys.

Was the rolling road done by the people who did the map?

Why didn't they remove the map if it under performed?

Long story short and mentioning no names. Company who carried out all work originally/mapped gave me car back under performing and smoking badly. I then took it somewhere else who sorted smoking and car drove much better then had rolling roaded independently to get a fair bhp/torque figure. It's still under performing for mods on the car etc. I have spoken to a vag specialist in Plymouth who's going to come look at the car monday and hopefully sort it for me, and I'm hoping I will ok to carry on with holiday!

Hope you get it sorted. You don't want this to ruin your holiday.

Cheers mate, hoping this guy gets it sorted tbh. As starting to make me fall out of love with the car all the money I'm spending on it atm! As after this will be around £2300 in 3 months! Thankfully my wife is forgiving of my will to waste our money on small red skodas ! Lol

I'd be having serious words with the company who mapped it.

Perhaps this garage can write you a report to throw at them in case you need to use the small claims court

Don't get it remapped by Celtic, had mine done by them, long term I wasn't happy.

First thing to check would be for boost leaks IMO.

As an aside, I'd also check it hasn't blown a turbo pipe off.

Definitely no boost pipes off, had no black smoke and no induction noise. It's popped pipes before and still allows acceleration but with terrible smoke and lack of power. It's fueling causing it but hoping nota weak pump etc. I've

Managed to a specialist who's coming out tomorrow from Plymouth to help me. So hoping h. Gets it sorted soon. I will cancel celtic tuning after reading and hearing very

bad reviews. Just hoping I can drive the car home!

Having a quick read on the forum, other culprit other than fuel could be faulty vacuum unit not opening waste gate up enough causing

Underboost dtc, only wierd bit is if you let the car cool it will improve slighty for a short period. Wondering if anyones had anything similar?

Just to let people know, the car is back alive again! The fueling on the duty cycle was miles off causing the car at speed in high gear/low revs to see underboost as fuel injection cycle incorrect and car thought lack of boost etc. All pipe work/necessary parts checked and logged perfectly. So mapped sorted and car drives perfectly and much quicker too.

Fixed by gareth at GHE tuning who drove to me and fixed it brilliantly, so anyone in Cornwall after a good remap go to him. Thanks for all help/advice.

I'd still be kicking off at the original companies that did a shoddy job, glad it's all sorted now though!

I think you ought to mention the name of this so called "tuner". It'll help others and possibly myself avoid them and their shoddy workmanship.
