Strange Guardian Octy Mk III vRS review

Featured Replies

Oh dear: the Guardian says the new vRS is: "for someone who is a grown-up, then, with a hint of a paunch, but young at heart."

But as the writer states he writes for people that know nothing about cars. Hmmm.

Well, he's got me pegged! Apart from the part about a bit of a paunch, I wish it was but it is larger than that

pay it no heed, only militants and university lecturers read The Guardian. And what do they know about cars :p

Well that is awful. H doesn't review the car, he just says his audience isn't interested in cars

I thought I just said that :D

In his profile it states, "Sam Wollaston is TV critic for the Guardian!"

By the sound of him, he's an American "bottom", though I doubt he has the taste for it!

It's not known as The Grauniad for nothing you know.

This is a paper that supported Nick Clegg and the LibDems in the last election.

Judgement, zero out of ten.

Prefer the scotsmans review

"A potential winner for anyone who doesn’t feel the need for a badge with greater prestige, when the outside lane of the motorway clears like Moses parting the Red Sea before you, you’ll probably realise it was money well spent."

Even more so when you have a Hi-Vis jacket over the passenger seat and wear a white shirt and dark tie.

Since the police switched to black shirts years back that probably won't work :-)

How appropriate. Is that just Traffic Officers or all lower ranking Officers as cannot imagine Senior Officers dressing in black shirts?  Thanks for the fashion tip.

Not a bad review, honest and pretty on the mark. If you read it its obvious he liked the car. Its a Golf GTi in bigger, perhaps maybe drabber clothing but a great half sporty good value family car with 95% of the Golfs good points and loads more space.

I have to say personally, given also the price difference between the two isnt exactly huge now that id rather have the Golf....but sadly id never get my kids, pushchairs, luggage etc in one....says it all really.

Not really a review, it's just social commentary.

All officers AFAIK. I've certainly seen a chief super all in black. They're a breathable material like a windstopper material, with no collar and no ties obviously
