Another wheel fitment question... Sorry!

8J x ET35 on a mk2 vRS? Do-able?

Cheers

Yes. They will only poke 4mm more than an 8.5 et45 so should be fine. You'll have 16mm more inner clearance too ;)

Cool - lets give it a go then :D

Not really. In the rear - maybe, but the front would be too wide for stock fenders. I tried it a few weeks ago.

Hmm. Might need to go and give them a trial fit first then :S

I was going off W8s comment above and the fact that the mk5 Golf seems to take similar sized wheels (obviously) and this is how 8 x ET35 looks on the Golf. Am I totally wrong in thinking the Octy should be the same?

Oh, and should mention that my car is on AP coilovers wound down a fair old way...

What about camber shims ? to tuck the top in ?

Don't really want to run any camber as its a daily and doing ~8000 miles a year so eating tyres isn't really high on my agenda. Looks like I might have to pass on them if they're not going to work :(

Try them if you can :)

I'd say 8J at that offset might look a little odd stance wise, because the wheel isn't all that wide if it's an 18 or 19 but they're out in the arch - but then if you've got it wound down then maybe not!

I'm not sure what's the offset on stock mk5 wheels, but the ones I tried looked further out. Try them first if you can so you don't end up with a set of wheels you're not going to use (like I did) :)

Offset on OEM Mk5 wheels is similar to the vRS I thought, around an ET51?

Pretty sure the 18" Monza is 18x7.5 ET51

Everything 'sporty' that uses the mk5 platform using 7.5 x ET51 rims I think. The vRS, the Golf GTi and I think the Leon Cupra etc, hence my (totally unfounded) reasoning that works on a mk5 Golf = will work on a Octavia mk2.

Yep, that logic makes sense :)

can't fault the logic, but i have to say that it does appear that an et35 wheel seems to be more do-able on a golf than on a vrs, must be down to the design of the arch i suppose rather than the suspension.

as above, you could prob get away with that spec - having the car very low may improve how it appears in the arch. my neuspeeds are 8" and et45 and i wouldn't want them poking another 10mm at the front..

Must be arch design related Rob, on the Mk5/6, that's the only other variable possible.
