just had a ridiculous renewal from flux!

Featured Replies

Its that time of year again, was paying just over 600 on my modified vrs fabia with Adrian flux, just swapped to an Octavia vrs cr standard, got some quotes from moneysupermarket and best was 408 which I thought was pretty good, my renewal came through and they want 980 quid! What's that all about? It will be remapped in next few weeks so what will that push it up too! Where do these prices come from!

You may find that it will come down as they specialize in modified vehicles - the companies that they use don't tend to like standard cars.

Ring them and ring around make it clear that it is standard at the moment and will be remapped shortly and see what you get quoted.

What gets my beef is when you ring around get a better quote then all of a sudden they can match it - if you can do that price - offer it to me in the first place. (That is industry wide not just AF to be fair to them).

Yeah I found that too, insurance is the biggest racket going tbh..

my 1.8t engined felicia with all mods declared was over £100 cheaper to insure than a standard 1300cc model.. It beggars belief really.

Its a nightmare isn't it. Hate this time of year, ringing round. Surly they must be able do it cheaper then that. I'll give them a bell later

At 33 I would have thought you could insure for a lot less than that.  My Octavia vRS FL CR DSG costs me £140 per year (12K miles per year, protected no-claims and wife as named driver) - but I am exactly twice your age!

One of the perks of getting old! Lol is it cheaper to put the other half on?

You just need to accept that there is NO loyalty in the insurance game.

I'm sure they rely on people just renewing and earning a fortune.

If 50% of the people swap and 50% of people don't they'll make a fortune.

Amusing that at 38 I was paying less than your Octy quote for my modified GT-R. :giggle:

I got that down by £100 by letting my wife drive it. (on the drive)

Right so sticking the missus on will make it cheaper. Also if I insure it as mapped even though it won't be for first week or so is this as bad as not declaring a map? It will be mapped asap but might go past renewal date by a week or 2. Don't want to then pay an extra amount of money to swap details
