water in drivers front and rear footwells

Featured Replies

can anyone shed any light on where it gets in? ive resealed the rear door window regulators and that solved part of the problem, i had a dehumidifier in the car for 2 days after that and i thought all was fine, but ive now got wet carpet on the drivers side in the front and rear footwells, the passenger side is bone dry.

cheers, Toby

Leaking from the front doors?

Could be leaking again from the rears, I sealed mine but one of them still leaks. PITA.

Front doors also leak the same as the rears, i need to seal my front passenger door as well.

If you fixed your rear ones, then it could be water from the front going to the rear, just sort out the fronts first and let it dry up, and then see if the rears are still wet a few weeks later

Get in the habit of looking at the bottom rubber seal in the doorway as you open any of the car's doors. If there's a little puddle sitting on the horizontal top bit, that door carrier is leaking.

oh ok, didnt know the fronts leak too, i havent seen any puddles on the seals like i did with the rear doors, will have a look at them tomorrow anyway if i get a chance and report back.

Thanks for speedy replies, Toby

I didn't realise the fronts leaked until I had the wet patches like you :)

My passenger front leaks slightly in very heavy rain. On my to-do list!

I have leather and rubber mats so the water stays on top of them, need to sort it ASAP before the winter

evening all, i believe the door seals to be ok after a blast over the car with a hose pipe. but the floor is still wet, the worst of the damp is between the carpet and the chunky bit of sound deadening under the drivers feet, it seems to be puddling on top of the sound deadening. could it be the rubber seal around the door check strap? do fabia's also suffer from blocked drain holes in the scuttle panel and eventually overflow into the car like the passats and audi allroad's? i did have a search for the drains but found nothing.

take the sound underlay out and dry it out, this holds a fair bit of water (use a hair dryer). i put a piece of material within the gap on the bottom of the rubber door seal this will absorb the water and stop it from getting in the car and also check them black plugs these sometimes don't sit right.

Yes they do. It's definitely something to check for.
