Skoda Octavia Warning lights

Featured Replies

Some time ago, I fitted a Parrot Phone Kit, which works very well. However, in the process of fitting, I had to disconnect the air-bag cable from the back of the glove compartment. It was disconnected for about a week until I got time to finish the job. When I eventually reconnected the air-bag cable, the warning light on the dash board remained on and has been on since. I tried today disconnecting and re-connecting the battery, but that made no difference. Any ideas? Tomaghille.

You need to use VCDS or visit a dealer to clear the fault and turn off the light.

What is VCDS?       Tomagille.

A cable and software which works like the dealer diagnostic tool.

Welcome.

Have a look at the VCDS list here, there may be a kind member near you to scan your car.

Hi and welcome aboard.

As I live in the  Highlands of Scotland, There is no chance of me  getting to someone with suitable VCDS, so I have to put myself at the mercy of the main dealer in Inverness, who has the Skoda monopoly. As I am due to take the car in for a new  timing belt, I will have to get it seen to then. But in relation to the timing belt, on my initial phone-call I was asked if I wanted the water pump replaced at the same time as the timing belt. I did not know what to answer. What should I answer? The reason for the change of timing belt is age rather than mileage. The car is 4- 5 years old, but has only done 59,000 miles.

Get it changed just to on the safe side.

Do you mean the timing belt or the water pump. The belt I will change without question, but should I also change the water pump at the same time?

I meant the pump. The timing belt has to off to change the pump so you may as well get it done at the same time.
