fitting strut brace

Featured Replies

hi guys have just picked myself up one of the audi tt front strut braces does anyone have a guide on here on how to fit it as i have no clue all help is much appreciated

Well i just fitted mines the other day, rather simple if i'am honest, you'll need 2 drill bits, one as a pilot hole and the other to bore out and fit the screws through, first get the brace on for a test fit once it's in the right postion, mark it with a marker, take it off drill the holes, and hay presto, my advice is use some oil to help when drilling through the metal

Use a punch to make a indent first or drill bit could slip

What strut brace is that loydd where did you get that strut brace from? Did you have any issues closing the bonnet once the strut was fitted?

Lloyds Strut brace is just a std Audi S3/TT upper brace, painted.

There is no issue on bonnet closing with these braces fitted.

To fit these is pretty simple as listed above.

Here is a few Part numbers:

S3/TT upper strut brace = 8L9806529A

To bolt could use  large self tappers or a bolt and nut. I did a Bolt and nut but this means you have to jack up car to get under neath arch to tighten up

You could be clever and fit the upper brace with the lower brace bolt and captive nuts. This will allow you to drill and bolt up from the top and then you can remove brace   when ever.

Those Part number are:

S3/TT lower strut brace bolts = N10467901  x2

S3/TT lower strut brace captive rivet nut = N90914701   x2

Also if anyone needs it the lower strut brace is this part number

S3/TT lower strut brace = 8N0199403B

which you will need those bolts and nut to fit it.

Yeah bud as mark said :)

Mines a TT brace with the brackets removed and smoothed off then powder coated

Iirc its m8x35mm stainless bolts n washers with lock nuts

No issues at all :)

Using the above part number for the strut brace I cant find it on the net anywhere. The only one I can find is on ebay:

8N0805629A

Any ideas if this will fit?

Just search ebay for tt strut brace :)

Dont be paying daft money for it tho

TT braces max 30-35

S3 brace go for about 70

Cheers very much mate

No worries bud :)

That's a stunning engine bay Lloyd! (y)

Cheers mate , im really pleased with the results :)

Can someone explain how tbe captive nuts and bolts fit as when thinking about it I still can not see how you fit these without going under the wheel arch?

Thanks
