Elegance 2.0 TDI CR DSG - Pulling to the Right

Featured Replies

Hi,

Asking on behalf of my Dad,

He has a new Octavia Hatch 2.0 TDI CR DSG,

He has noticed that it ikes to pull to the RIGHT,

He can go round a gentle right bend with no turning of the steering wheel....

Any advice? anyone got any ideas whats causing it? Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

Mine seems to self steer very slightly, but not in any particular direction, as though something is loose, it's also very twitchy in the wind. I have a long thread running on this issue. I have to admit though yours sounds like a different problem.

Just been reading your thread...the moment i posted this one and returned to the previous screen yours appeared above it mentioning steering haha

Thanks

This seems to be a common occurrence with cars, a mates Kia has the opposite, in that it pulls (quite significantly) to the left.

There was a thread about this not so long ago and he was going to reject the car as the dealers said it was OK, worth looking back over some posts from weeks ago.

It is odd, my brand new Fabia Monte is due to go in next week as its pulling to the side. and noticed in the fabia forum alot of other comments about the same issue.

Ill have a look through and see what i can find.

The solution seems to be a firmware update to the steering system (Kia's is an electric one) and from what I've read over on a Kia forum it seems to work.

Jebus, a friggin firmware update to a steering wheel.

If it pulls to one side take it back, it's dangerous.

Bazinga!

Not really as most cars are "fly by wire" these days. How many cars actually have a throttle cable these days, not that many because it's done electronically.

only the throttle is fly by wire, the sterring wheel MUST be mechanically connected to the wheels.

The assistance is by electro magnets around the shaft which make it easier or harder to turn the wheel.

If it's pulling to one side then there's something wrong with it.

Just a thought, has the new 'Lane Assistant' gadget got anything to do with this. On reading the spec it says that the car will be kept in the centre of the lane even through corners. Could be the odd sensation they've mentioned.

+1 They were my thoughts as well.

To the OP is your dad aware of the Lane Assistant? If he has it, it can be switched off, take the right hand bend again and see if it still does it.

Hi,

No lane assist present on the car. so wont be this interfering with it.

it dosen't happen on the same roads etc, he has varying routes and all have the same issue.
