No power at all via the ignition, battery full ?

Featured Replies

Hi

I need some advice, following on from my previous alarm issue posted here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/285527-alarm-going-off-at-random-times-of-the-night/

The alarm ECU was changed on the 30th Sept, the car was trouble free for four days before the alarm started triggering again, i removed the 5amp intruder alarm fuse at 2am because it was going off constantly, i basically had no choice but to shut it up.

In the morning (saturday) i put the fuse back in, put the key in and nothing, not even a mileage reading with the door open, i checked all of the fuses in the car, and then the fuses in the engine bay, all were fine.

The battery is reading over 12v, nothing is working at all, no exterior or interior lights, no fans working no dash lights at all, no mileage, no clicking sounds when the key is used in the ignition, its like its got a completely dead battery.

The doors lock and unlock as normal, you hear a chirp when you lock etc, the alarm is still setting it self off lol

The RAC came out via Skoda roadside assistance, they couldn't get there diag machine to communicate with the car as the ecu was off completely.

They towed my car to the local Skoda garage, which is the one who have always looked after the car, and it still sat there now.

The Skoda tech seemed to believe it may be a relay issue, but today they have had to send off a report to Skoda Technical as the relays are fine, and they can not find an obvious reason for the power issue.

I know its under warranty etc, but do you guys / gals have any ideas whats going on ?

This car has given me such a headache over the last few years, mechanically the best car I've had, electrically the worst !

Small update

I popped in the dealer today, my car was sat there with half the dash stripped apart.

Apparently the can is providing a live 12v feed somehow ? Where it should be providing a signal and not a live 12v feed ?

They have tried to "hot wire" the instrument panel but that didn't work.

Apparently the tech will have someone in milton keynes ? Im guessing that is a main technical centre ? Log in to the computer that is attached to the car to try and figure out how to fix it remotely.

The guys said they cannot communicate with the can at all as no signal is being sent / received so i dont know how someone can solve the issue or from a remote location.

Seems like a complicated issue, and judging from the lack of replies on here a rare one too.

I feel your pain mate, electrical issues can be a nightmare, hope they sort it soon.
