Engine Management Light - Help!

My engine management light has today decided to come on. The car itself seems to be driving Okay.

The car itself is a 51 plate so is no longer covered by manufacturers warranty. However, I did purchase an extended warranty from the dealer which covers mechanical breakdown. I spoke to the warranty company who were as usual very unhelpful. They say I need to get the car checked out before they will commit to any repairs / costs incurred.

I have provisionally booked the car in for Monday 25th as this is earliest I can get a courtesy car from Skoda main dealer. At

Find someone with VAG-COM in your area first of all.

Do a search for vag-com map on here.

Can the brake light switch fault cause this? When mine went on my Polo it brought up the glow plug light.

Hi yes it can.

Check to see if the brake lights come on.

That is one way to test it.
