Just Had Shark Remap on a 1.9 tdi 105

Featured Replies

Just had my Fabia II pd 105 1.9 tdi remapped via a shark STS.

Car is fabia 3 and 4 y.o but has only 17K miles, and I just got it 2nd hand.

I had an Ibiza pd 130 before it and was looking for this particular engine so I could remap it, as the price 2nd hand is ridiculously cheap for a Fabia II 1.9tdi.

The performance after mapping is like night and day, and must be approaching 140bhp comparing it to the recent Ibiza performance I had.

I've not had it rolling road tested, and probabaly won't bother as it feels excellent now, and thats good enough for me.

The rest of the car is a bulk standard Fabia 3 09 reg, and will be staying that way, so it will be a bit of a shock to tailgaters who **** me off lol.

Any other tdi owners had it mapped and experiences?

Sure have. As it happens I'm back at Shark tomorrow to finalise the custom map after fitting PD150 injectors to my PD105 Roomster.

FMIC and Hybrid are calling me.......

If only I could convince SWMBO that she needs this for her 1.9 TDi Sport  :(

I'm keeping quiet about the idea with mine. She scares me in her stock 1.9 as it is!

I had mine remapped over two years ago. 93k on the clock ATM and car fells like new. Pretty sure mines around 140 BHP. I absolutely love the car and playing around with other drivers who think theirs are much faster than some cheap Skoda...:)

Bless my lovely OH asked me the other day if her car could get 'pimped' like mine :)

It's a 1.33 vvti Toyota Yaris

Hey guys, I have a 110 ASV lump, what does a remap cost?

I keep getting tempted by a shark map and STS unit on our 1.9.

Is the 1.9 in the Fabia the same as the Octavia (BXE lump I believe)?

Thanks for replies :).

The guy who owned the car before was called Herbert (straight up!!) and no doubt used the car for the odd runabout journey to the doctors and trips to the oap day centre and back etc....

No wonder it had only done 17K... its in mint condition and still smells newish at 4 years old.

No doubt Herbert would have a heart attack if he saw what I was doing to and with his car now.....lol

Haha. Ours was the same. Owned by some lady who did 20,000 miles in 6 years. Still smells new... when I clean it...

And yeah I wonder what he would think.

My only worry with cars like these is if they have been run too gently but you can normally rule that out with a test drive watching for smoke etc.

Guys

Have your remaps had any other impact on the car?

I ask because having test driven a few 1.9 tdis I have found them to be much noisier and harsher than a Fabia mk 1 VRS....which is putting me off buying a 1.9 sport

Was wondering if anyone had similar experience and also if having a 1.9 sport remapped might help smoothen it out?

I also wondered if this was because in the VRS there's so much torque there's no need to rev hard to get anywhere unless you really want to go for it, giving the impression that it is less clattery and less like driving a tractor than the 1.9 sport.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks

I don't think the 1.9 PD105 is any noisier.

I find it makes a pretty identical noise and amount of it compared to the PD130 I had in the Cordoba. This is also taking into account that this one probably gets revs higher due to it's lower power and the DSG choosing which gear/when (kicks down quite low and revs high).

Could it be down to a difference in sound insulation?

From the outside the PD105 sounds like our PD130 but when driving with windows up it's much quieter and can only put that down to the Octavia having better insulation.

Also a remap shouldn't change how an engine sounds at all.
