Turbo lag with lots of black smoke

Featured Replies

just got my car back from a garage after having a recon turbo fitted. The car drives perfect until about 2000 rpm where it seems to have alot of lag and makes alot of black smoke, it then clears and is perfect/very fast again! can anyone help?? the car is an 05 plate fabia vrs.

Take it back and complain.  Sounds like the new turbo isn't set up right, or something is not connected correctly.

its been there 3 weeks now! its had a new MAF, MAP and a forge boost pipe kit to solve a boost leak. the car is remapped so could it need setting back up?

All that and it's still not working?

Turbo isn't set up right - take it to Dirty Torque!

Sounds like a poorly setup stopscrew / actuator rod to me.  They are fiddly to get right but anyone with reasonable mechanical knowledge (even me :D) should know what affect adjusting the stopscrew and actuator has.

However, if you are getting low down boost, then losing it, then getting it back again - that sounds software related?

I'd be checking they've put the hose onto the actuator first of all.
