coolant level warning on dash?

Featured Replies

Hi guys been awhile since ive had a problem with my Octavia but now sometimes ( mainly cold damp or wet conditions so it seems ) i get a STOP - check coolant message on the read out on dash? If i turn off the engine and on again sometimes it disappears or not. The level and strength of coolant is fine as its just been changed by mechanic - this only seems to of appeared since he changed the cam belt kit. When i went to him he said its probably the sensor. Right, he said it was inside the coolant res bottle? is this right or not and if so do i just buy a new res bot for it? The car isnt overheating or anything like that and seems to reach temp the same as normal.

Any advice will be greatly accepted tar

Hi.

This is a common problem. Try using a tooth brush or one of those small wire brushes that are the size of a tooth brush, and gently brush up and down the two wire terminals inside the coolant bottle.

I brushed mine and it has been fine for the last two winters.

Scrape the prongs in the bottle. Mine worked for another year afterwards. If that doesn't work, I believe the bottle (inc sensor) is fairly cheap

Doh. Beaten to it
