Gearbox oil for 2004 vRS

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've recently purchased a 2004 vRS. it's coming upto 100k so i wanted to change the gearbox oil. I checked on the Castrol website and they recomended Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle 75w/90, which i duely went out and brought 3lt of. However, since finding this site and having a search around i haven't been able to find any referance to anyone using it so was just wondering if it's ok to use or wether it's best to sack it off and use the stuff from the dealers?

Any help/advise appreciated.

Cheers

Russ

if it was me I would disregard all the notchy gearbox tales and put it in I can't see Castrol giving you a bum stear (assuming you read it right)--- better new oil than what's been in --from my experience there's no guarantee that the steelers will quote the right thing----don't get me started on VAG gear oil p't no's
