Headlights don't go out with ignition off ! ?

Featured Replies

Appreciate this is Skoda forum but I'm sure someone will be able to help me with my fiends Golf Mk 5 2005 headlights.

Problem is when she switches the ignition off the headlights stay on.

Spoke to VW garage but they just want you to spend £80 to use diagnostic to tell you the switch is faulty whatever.

It has automatic lights but they don't switch off either when ignition switched off.

Searched internet and found several have similar problem but no remedy.

Anyone got any ideas please?

I have tried a VW forum to no avail.

Has this only started since the nights drew in?  If so it is more than likely that it has the COming Hoime / Leaving Home function enabled.  Try locking the car and seeing if they go off after a minute or so.  If so then that's it.

Can be changed either via VCDS or the multifunction display if it has one...

Yes, sounds like CH/LH lights.

As above really.

CH/LH can stay on for up to 60 seconds after the ignition has been switched off.
