2.0tdi pd140 upgrades

Featured Replies

I'm wanting to increase the performance of my car but where do I start apart from a remap, can a dump valve or induction kit be fitted?

A remap will give you most bang for your buck. Induction kit etc will only add very little etc.

Dump valves aren't suitable for diesels.

Remap by one of the forum sponsers seems the way to go.

How old is your car, and how many miles?

Be warned that the PD140 turbo can be a known weakness, so bear this in mind when requesting more performance, particularly if your car has done higher miles. Pay particular attention to the increase quoted by any remapping company you look at. 170bhp would be the maximum safe level.

Other mods you mention won't give you much more; induction kit might give you a bit more noise, but I don't think it's worth it in terms of purchase cost vs improvement.

The EGR can be worth removing, as it's one less point of failure.

Other improvements are the same across the Octy2 range: uprated brakes, ARBs, bushes, suspension etc.

I had a revo remap on my A3 PD140 which went well, I did have boost issues but that was at 80K and was the usual sooty vane problem which effects stock and tuned cars alike.

Ran mine of V-Power Diesel or normal Diesel and Millers and didn't have any issues with excessive soot with the Map.

It ran well, was very noticeable when I put it back to stock to trade it in.

Just seems that the standard turbo on the PD140 runs a bit closer to its safe limits with a Stage1 map, compared with other engines - the 1.9 PD130 for example.
