Has she broken it?

Featured Replies

On my vRS there is a little compartment in front of the gear lever with a carbon effect lid.

SWMBO went to get my house keys out of the compartment tonight and instead of pressing on the top of the lid she pressed the back bit and it opened.

Now it does not click closed, is it knackered?

Well cheesed off if it is broken :(

I did similar to mine, probably broken the plastic tag on the ' runners', or if you're lucky something's just popped out of place. It's easy to take out, pull the gear stick gator up and I think it's two torx screws hold it in. My tag had broken and I fixed it with a tiny screw threaded carefully into the plastic. Don't know how much a new one is from a dealer, but I think a replacement was about £40 from a scrappy/ebay

Will be hard to get a full replacement in black carbon effect from a scrappy, as they only started last year. If you take it out and its FUBAR'd see if the carbon effect lid can be removed and just use a poverty spec one like this and swap. If it comes to that tell SWMBO how much one from dealer is then make her pay for the Ebay one in relief.

Cheapest I found on Ebay £15.99 delivered

Could not wait...took it apart and as per "Mr G 76" the tiny plastic lug had snapped, managed to get a tiny screw and inserted it in its place..bang on, it works a treat!

Thanks for the help :)

Wife has now been let out of the dog house and she owes me ;)
