vRS gaining cult status?

Featured Replies

Absolutely NOT a competition thread between the two cars but just general feeling about the vRS mark.I do think they are a bit of a cult car now

Seems wherever I go,be it in the Octavia vRS or FabiavRS someone will pop over and say "I've heard abut these" and rattle on about how good they are.Parked up,people come and have a sneaky look.Makes me smile

Suppose they have both been out long enough for the word to have been spread or indeed for drivers of other vehicles to have been shocked and embarrassed by a skoda.

Well I'm pleased for skoda even if some worry about the cars reaching 'acceptable'levels of credibility for those who at one time wouldn't be seen dead in one :)

Had this happen when we first got the Octy...some guy comes abling over to have a shoofty....he didn't realise until he was right in front of the windscreen that I was sitting in it. :D:rofl:

I have found that poeple under 25 don't realise there is a stigma attached to Skodas. They have no idea how much of a contradiction the 130 Rapide was.

Mine does get a fair bit of attention, much more then say the average hottish hatch would get.

99% of the time it's nice comments though going pass an un-named college I get "kids" taking the **** out of it, not that I care what they think.

I am however gettin fed up of the "oh it's a Skoda" comment

I get loads of abuse at work driving a Octavia Vrs, but last week caught one of my mates in a deserted office looking at them on Auto trader, he then had to come clean that since going out in mine, he's been looking to buy one........

Perv ;):D

Mainly the back of it I hope  :P

I'm part of a small forum on the Isle Of Wight.....most on there are young lads with "first" cars...Fiestas, Novas + a high abundance of Jap stuff....Scoobys, Evos etc.

My Skud broke the tradition and has been well accepted due to its pristine condition and the fact the young uns dont like being whipped by it:D

Perv!!

OOOHHHH MATRON!!!Williams>

Well the Octavia is a cult car, but while the Fabia was a cult car to begin with, it is now a lot more mass market and therefore more popular thanks to price, advertising, etc and therefore is not a cult car (well not anymore)

Well theres been numerous threads on scoobynet and piston heads to how suprised they are and general praise.. what was it "Skoda, the thinking mans scooby"

I keep getting lads of about 19-20 years old coming up to me and saying "nice car mate"

I've had a few people ask about it - in car parks etc...

The one I got quite a lot when I first bought her and always makes me smile, "Oh yeah, Skodas... they're good cars now". Yes - well spotted, do you think I would have bought a duffer?!!

Steve

Traffic cops seem to be impressed by them...

I know of 2 Octy RS owners that have been pulled over for no other reason than plod's curioscity.

I get many a comment, usually "these are quick arn't they, still a skoda though" i say true it is and its the best car I have ever owned!

It's also true that many people go and look around it when they think no-one is looking!

I honestly believe that we who are converted are in the minority, but I want it to stay that way!

I've had a fair bit of "Skoda prejudice" but it stops as soon as people have a ride in it! The next comment is, "how much is it?"!!!

Two Auto Express greatest drive's can't hurt either :D

I was sat in the stealers yesterday while I waited for mine to be checked over and got talking to a guy in there.

He says to me "have you got a Skoda then??", "yeah" I say,"got two actually - love 'em". "Ohh I dunno he says, not sure about 'em, are they reliable?"

All this while he's waiting for an electrical problem that took out all the windows, roof and back door on his FreeLander to be fixed!!!

I feel that the Octavia vRS already has a certain cult status attached to it. Achieving 4-stars in evo magazine gives it credibility amongst the petrol heads of the world and, as stated above, it is a thinking man's choice.

I always thought of my VX220s as the thinking man's Lotus. An impractical sports car, without the badge to lean back on.

Well my mate who services my car was VERY suprised by mine when he drove it, he is looking to buy one now! I've only had the very odd bad comment (not that i care) they are usually ill informed or snobs.
