question about Fitting a Milotek WRC Spoiler

Featured Replies

does the Milotek WRC Octavia Spoiler mount in the original mouting holes on a VRS

Yes and no. It utilises the rear of the two, however to bolt down the front of the spoiler you need to do some extra drilling.

Are the supplied boot lifters neccessary? The wrc seems to be lighter than the standard spoiler.

Mike have you got the milotec one?

The reason I ask is mine is (AFAIK) and you have to have to use the uprated lifters. The REAL WRC wing if you like is kevelar and weighs nothing.

Mine however is more like a guilotine on steroids.

Some drilling required from what I can see external compared to others.

I'm hopefully going to have some news re milotec stuff soon. The fitting guides are a good start mind ;) Assuming one exists for the wing...umm I wonder.

I dont know if its milotec. Sorry what does AFAIK mean? I got the spoiler 2nd hand of someone but i dont believe it was fitted. He said it came with the uprated lifters.

I think this wrc wing is very light i could hold it with 2 fingers. Do you think its the real deal wrc wing? Theres no skoda stamp on it though.

AFAIK = As far as I know.

Post a pic of the spoiler, we should be able to tell. Maybe you do indeed have a real one.

When I go home ill post a pic.

As you can see the previous owner has modifed the middle section where the skoda badge normally sits. However I will have a semi circle out into it to fit around the skoda badge.

IIRC that's an AirDesign spolier from the Czech Republic...does come with uprated lifters.

No..it's not a proper WRC one....sorry. :(

How do you know its made by airdesign? You should be on mastermind!

Does it need the uprated lifters? Is it simple to fit the lifters?

If it came with the lifters then the manufacturers reckon the standards one aren't upto the job...easy to change...the ball joints just unscrew...I assume.

As for the make...I know who you bought it from. ;)

;)

Yes, that is an Air Design as Adrian identifies. I have exactly the same and haven't changed the struts. The origianl ones after some two years are now starting to have trouble lifting the boot lid by themselves. However, this is a GOOD thing!

First if its been rained on, it doesn't fling all the water in your boot, you can leave it in a slightly raised position to allow water to drain off. And secondly. With the spoiler on, it adds a good 8" extra vertical height to the tail gate in the fully open position. Openning slowly with the original struts comes in handy at this point when you are in a multi storey car park with limited ceiling height. Presumably I don't need to provide extra explanation.
