virbration on clutch

Featured Replies

hi has anybody had a virbration on the clutch wot could it be on a 1.6 tdi estate any ideas also

how much would it cost to a have a new clutch fitted from the dealer

It could be a DMF failure. A bit more info about the vibration might help people diagnose the problem.

how much vibration do you mean, on my 1.6tdi it does sometime vibrate when I first pull off.

It is just a small amount, had this since almost new I guess and what I was informed that it´s the DMF adjusting/calibrating itself.

Mine is about to reach 80k, little over 3 years, and it´s been mapped at 50k.

I also feel that if I do more city the vibration is more noticeble. Could also go days on without ever doing it

...what I was informed that it´s the DMF adjusting/calibrating itself.

I'm afraid that is nonsense. There is nothing clever in a DMF that allows it to 'adjust' or 'calibrate' itself. See e.g. here:

hi guys its just somethink stuck in my head first the car has only done 32.500 miles i had it from savilles

one owner they gave me 6 mounths on the clutch it just sounded a bit strange when i put in to fourth at

30 mph by the clock it sounds like vibration or would it be the car labouring when i taken the car in a garage

how i now they said there is a bit of vibration on the clutch have you notice it i said now so wot would it cost me if i have to have

it done that it wot do you think pete

What in the heck are you doing going at 30mph in fourth? Do this only on certain circumstances. Not good for the dmf, try and stay.above 1200/1300 rpm

Just drive it like a petrol and you will be very happy.

+1 on the above. Is the clutch still in warrenty as I've found Savilles (mustow green) to be a good dealer. If so get them to check it out for you if only to give you peace of mind.

To be fair to the OP, VW themselves suggest being in 4th gear below 30 mph (~25mph in fact). See page 11 of the following booklet on fuel efficient driving:

BUT if the engine is struggling in 4th at 30 mph, change down.

I would also add that driving a diesel in exactly the same way as a petrol car is madness, and it will severely affect fuel consumption.

The 1.6 tdi engine needs to be driven diferent than the 1.9tdi, anyone that changed can agree with me.

When I meant "drive it like petrol"  I was meaning that you can rev the engine higher same way you do more often on a petrol.

This engine is very good between the 1700 and 3000rpm in any gear.

I have done  about 3850kms in 98 horas of driving and have an average fuel consumption of 5.1 Liters, very happy with result.

Don´t forget that if you always drive for fuek consumption and do mainly city, your more likely to have filter and EGR valve problems.

As cold temp arrives, the engine temp. takes longer to normal working temp., this will also make filter become more dirty than summer.

I myself notice more regenerations,  and basilly just drive at lower gear at higher rpm, no need to go highway,

My vRS vibrates too, when setting off. Probably something to do with being a diesel.
