Sony DSC-W1: dodgy image quality

Hi folks,

Any of you out there have this camera? I bought one at Christmas and was happy with it, but am now having a few problems. When I turn it on, it seems to then turn itself off again, and it also does this when I change modes using the wheel, e.g. from auto photo mode, into playback :(

Secondly, even on the 5MP setting, the pictures that it produces are nowhere near 5mp quality- the lines are jagged and there is a distinct loss of detail . This is when the photos have been taken on auto mode and also some of the more specialist ones, like scenery

Any ideas, before I take it back to the shop for them to have a look at it?
