10k service, prices have gone up :(

Featured Replies

booked it in for next week (9800 miles now!) I paid about £80-90 for my interim oil changes on my last vRS, was told by (new girl) skoda have a special offer on at £129....

I was like, eeerrr, for an oil change?!

I managed to beat her down to a "border cars" service instead of a "skoda service" (like they are any different!) to £99

going to pay £141 altogether because they are putting my new brakes on for me too :)

The Skoda service schedule as shown in the National Pricing has more involved in the 'Minor Service' as they list it now.

It now includes being Plugged into the diagnostics and a Road Test,

(so ask them for the report. If they are doing what Skoda say, there should be one, even if just saying all is well.)

So not Just Oil & Filter & Fluids as was, which really could be a rip off.

Plenty do charge less than 'National Pricing',

£110 plus for a 10,000 mile/annual service Oil & Filter change was a bit OTT in the past.

That was why new owners often got a 20% off discount from the supplying dealer @ the first Service.

Spooky, got quote for my first 10k service today as well.

105notes or 70 if I supply my own oil, guy said that all vw state they need to do is oil and filter change and check front brakes, no mention of Skoda requirements!! Said they would check diagnostics foc too!! No mention of anything else, a lot for a stamp!

At my Monte's first service, the technician was ex Ford, he said he was shocked at how little they do at Skoda, no handbrake adjustment, no tyre pressure checks etc, etc

Being out of warranty has its perks, I am getting my full 40k service by a friend at an independant including spark plugs of my choosing, high perf brake fluid, castrol FST 0w30 and the other trimmings for under £150.00. It helps to have a tame mechanic as a bud, better still I just discovered a stealth Briskie member at my local eurocarparts, amazing :) . I love it when a plan comes together.

Considering a vRS has Discs front and rear it takes a couple of minutes to check the discs, but importantly the pads front and rear.

The check is a purely visual one.

I can understand where rear drums where fitted do not get removed and shoes checked at the 10,000 mile service.

If a car has never been looked at for 12 months and 10,000 miles or more, its nice to think someone qualified is running a proper eye over the vehicle.

Seeing that the Steering, suspension, tyres etc is all good.

After all it might be another 12 months and 10,000 till the next time.

Many customers never will check anything believing that the Service will have things done for them,

they might not even check or adjust the tyre pressures.

Mine was £100 or so, with the spare wheel added on (so I'm not sure of the exact figure).

I'm at 16,000 or thereabouts, so I may need service/inspection number two soon (although my mileage has dropped from 200 miles a week to 200 miles a month...).
