Strange issue with keys

Featured Replies

Hi chaps, hope you can help with a peculiar issue.

The two sets of keys for Blackline do slightly different things...

Set 1 will open just the drivers door (although a second press of the unlock button will open all) and then will lock the doors when I've set off.

Set 2 will open all doors with just one press of the unlock button and subsequently doesn't lock any doors when setting off.

Any ideas why the two different fobs unlock the car differently? And why only key number 1, will auto lock doors when I've set off?

If I don't explain this perfectly please forgive me, it's from memory.

It appears that the settings programmed into the car (Maxidot if you have it) are stored on the key in the ignition at that time, thus enabling users with different keys to have different settings.

Someone may explain it in more detail but that's the general idea.

I'm with you. It does have a maxidot and I do remember tinkering with set 1 (the main key) when I first bought it so that will explain it!

Thanks buddy.

You're welcome, glad to help.

Still on keys, but not the same subject. I heard this weekend about a Skoda ownner who was stranded in Llandudno because he locked his keys in the car. None of his motoring organisations nor the local Skoda dealer could do anything to help him, so he had to book into a B & B until a relative drove up with his spare keys from his home. I dont know if I'm reassured about the security of Skodas, or worried I might do the same!

sounds about right; On our Yeti with MaxiDot you can assign different settings for the memory seats etc to each key fob.
