Fabia 1.6 TDi Glow Plug Light came on...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 1.6 TDi Fabia, with Revo Stage 1 software installed... everything was fine, the car seemed smoother and a bit faster. But last month when I was driving on the motorway, the glow plug light started flashing.

Then, when I arrived home, I turned off the engine, and then restarted it. Everything was ok, the light turned off.

But occasionally, the light turns on again (usually while driving, and not driving fast). And when the light flashes, the car runs normally... it does not enter limp mode as it should (as it says on the owner's manual).

I went to my Skoda dealer, and they scanned the ECU, but everything was perfectly ok...

What can it be?

I don't know what to do... because the dealer says it's ok.

Had this a couple of times on mine too, mine is also mapped. First time it was due to a faulty air mass meter (went into limp mode), this was replaced and all was fine again, then after picking my car up from a service it happened on the way home again going into limp mode, this time they said there was no problem though?!

It seems strange that yours hasn't gone into limp mode when this happened?

Mine hasn't done it since but does make me wonder if it is something to do with the remap?

Yes, it's strange... My car runs normally, it pulls the same when the light starts flashing. I'm going to scan the ECU while the light flashes in order to identify what's the trigger... But i think it's the remap.

Mine did this - no remap and it didn't enter limp mode.  I checked the book when I got to my destination and read the dreaded "go direct to a dealer, do not pass go" and "it may go to limp mode" (I think that's almost exactly what it said/what my brain told me.

As with yours though, it disappered when I restarted and I had the kids in the cars then, so went home.  It hasn't done it since (that was 4 months ago).

Maybe the remap is befuddling the ECU briefly?  Have you asked the remap provider?
