Not running smooth when starts, occasional loss of power

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been reading through the forum and it looks like my issue with my skoda VRS being jumpy when cold, and jumpy through the gears when not cold could be the MAF sensor. Could anyone advise me where it is on the car, I am a bit of a novice to sporty cars having only had old sheds prior to the VRS beauty.

Cheers Jack

check all the pipes by the inlet manifold for splits

HI Jack

Stig is definitely right about the pipes, As yours is an 04 then chances are that a lot of the rubber pipes will have splits or cracks and they can be a pain to sort. the first one to check is the Y shaped pipe that comes off the right hand side of the head, this is notorious for almost turning to putty due to the gases that go through it.  there is also another pipe that runs from it to the crank breather, this is also a problem one and there is a third smaller pipe under the inlet manifold.  once these three are dealt with then things like the Cage Mod from the link above can help smooth things out further. .

Check your butterfly valve in your throttle body. Cleaning it with carb cleaner sorted my cold start hesitation

Thanks for all your help.

I believe it is the coolant temp sensor, as the engine management light came on and picked up one of these as these senors as the fault, buying part today and will fit over weekend.

Fingers crossed.

Hope you bought a genuine cts? Aftermarket ones are known to be problematic.

With the symptoms you quoted I would on banked money on a cts issue buddy

Defo buy a dealer green one though as aftermarket are ****e.

When these pack up they can give a number of poor running issues.

Hope it fixes it.
