Were looking for a Fabia 1.6TDI 105ps, can you help?

Featured Replies

good afternoon guys and girls.

Im not sure if anyone has any experience with adding a tuning box to the 1.6TDI's, but from our own experience the results aren't that great.

I know that may sound strange coming from someone who's business is tuning boxes, but over the years we have had several issues (mostly poor gains) with the 1.6tdi, so about 18 months ago decided to withdraw them from sale.

We've since recommend customers remap their cars, and warn them about the issues with using a box on the 1.6tdi.

Thankfully the latest incarnation of the 1.6tdi found in the Octavia 3 and Golf MK7/Audi A3 doesn't suffer the same issues, and actually work very well.

So, the question is this..

Do we have any members based in the North East of England who are currently running a 1.6TDI Fabia? and if so, would you be interested in helping us take another shot at these elusive engines?

Feel free to ask any questions, or drop me a pm

Andrew

Gains and added driveability may not be huge in number with a remap, but in real terms of day to day driving are very good

What figures are you hoping to achieve?

Had mine remapped 2 weeks ago via a shark sts... results are outstanding, 30 % gains in torque etc.

completely changed the cars dynamic, its a little beasty now.

Unfortunately Andrew Im not in the North East as you know otherwise Id of gladly helped out    pretty sure there must be someone with a 1.6 in your area.

Is this one of those

Not at all, if you'd taken the time to read my original post you would see that this is a vehicle were not happy selling a kit for. So why would anybody pay a penny for a kit that we're not actually happy with ourselves :)

If anyone is local to us, please drop me a pm

Cheers

bit too far for me! otherwise I would help

Well, today I traveled down to DTUK and let Andrew and the team loose on the car. We went through and tested 'plenty' of maps/settings on the box till we were happy with the results and hopefully just a little tweaking here and there should finish it off.

We started with crd2 common rail only sensor and ran a few different maps/settings but all we got were rattles, rattles and even more rattles!

We then moved to crd-t common rail sensor and boost sensor and fairly quickly managed to reduce the rattles to almost nonexistent!

So now I have a few maps to play with and do some long term testing with for DTUK.

First impressions........ Very good, noticeable diffrence in acceleration in all gears but the main diffrence I found was in 3rd and 4th, it pulls really well and the power hardy tails off right up to the red line. Before the install i found myself changing gear around 4200-4400rpm as the power tails off. The turbo still kicks in around the 17-1900rpm with a bit more shove. On the motorway home I got to test 5th out quite a bit, top end acceleration from 60 through to about 90 has been improved so overtaking was a lot easier.

So the 'bum dyno' approves but there are no figures yet. I'll be running the maps for some time and and my get a few proper dyno runs in within a few months. Andrew is also going to try and arrange a time where we can also use VAGCOM To try and gain someone information to hopefully perfect this.

I'll be keeping DTUK up to date with my progress and hopefully will lead on to a product the good enough for the masses! lol.

We also discovered the crd-t system can be fitted from just opening the bonnet! No need to jack up and remove the undertray, no need to worry about that dodgy jack dropping a the car on you!

Cheers.

Paul.
