Hazard warning switch lamp

Featured Replies

As said - anyone had any dealings with this . More to do with the lamp fitted ,as i note in Haynes that there is something yhat looks like a resistor in circuit.

Reason - planning on ( finally) getting round to fitting my remote central locking system ,and would like indicators to flash when car is locked. Getting the indicators to flash & stop is easy - it's a low current switch on toggle on the switch contacts. , then getting a count circuit to toggle the switch to shut them off adftyer so many flashes. be a lot easier on the hazard switch ,taking a feed from the lamp than the sure way of latching on to the live side of an indicator lamp .  .

Cant you just turn on the indicator flash with vcds/ vagcom? Might save you a lot of work

If you do manage to turn them on with VCDS - Please let me know how.

Could do if I had the appropriate kit fitted, but sadly mine is a 2004 CLASSIC which locks each door separately . Object of the exercise is to fit remote central locking. This means as a separate entity . I've got a security remote system and a four door lock/open and a separate hatch release . Power supply from car rail to remote unit has been sorted and from remote to control unit for the doors. As said ,i'd like to have the indicators flash when it locks . That is easy ,by applying a brief short across the hazard switch contacts ( the switch doesn't lock ,it just sends a signal to CCU that switch has operated to start hazards and another signal to switch them off ). .So some method of reading the flashes is needed. I could use photo electronics on the hazard light, but it's not IMHO reliable and fiddly. Most sensible method is to sense volts on the indicator line ,or on the hazard lamp ,which is closer to the intended location of the kit . It would be easy to run a wire to one of the rear indicator lamps, but more practical to sense off the hazard lamp, hence my original question .
