70mph in a new car?  What about running her in?!

Eeeeek! I have been trying to be extra careful with her! Point taken though! Thanks :-)

I'm tempted to remove the 'Skoda' and the 'Octavia' badge as i've seen on another thread.....anyone else doing this?

Yep think I'll be doing the same

Nothing wrong with 70mph in a new car. It's barely breaking a sweat. Besides, engines are run in on benches in the factory these days.

To be honest, it didn't feel at all like I was pushing it in any way shape or form, especially on a motorway journey. I've done the same with the last 3 cars I've had (all VAG) and never had a problem.

Surprisingly the dealers didn't mention anything about running it in at all, unless it just goes without saying!?

How come your mirror down-lights are not working on that picture (if it was taken after unlocking the car?)?

I'll take it off your hands for a few thousand miles and make sure it's run in?

Looks sweet.  I love the estate in white, but thinking of going down the hatch route.  Am thinking green....

It's not about the actual speed. You just have to pay attention to engine revs and not go over 3/4 of max revs permissible for the engaged gear. Full throttle should also be avoided. According to the manual you should practice this up to 1000 km...

Maybe some are but if that would be the case in these engines why are there instructions in the manual for running it in?

Running in! WTF. Might put a sign in the back of mine whilst driving at 30mph with a line of traffic 5 miles behind. Running in.pfft!

I have no idea at all about these!! Anyone else know? Is it a setting somewhere?

UK vRS dont get folding mirrors so no mirror downlights. Not even an option.

Just a little point.

If you were doing 70 isn't it a bit daft to use a camera or smartphone to take a picture showing the dials showing the speed of the car.

He made it clear it was the passenger taking the picture of MPG.

Understandable why mirror downlights don't work then. How come it's not even an option?  :S

Thank you for noticing PekoSI!! ????

Just got to have my say on the whole 'running in' debate here as it is very simple indeed.

The engines are run in at the factory prior to installation in your car. There is no need to be cautious with your new cars. The engines are prepared and ready to go.

Oh, and excuse my manners, the car looks great! Congratulations! And the lights at night are great, I love them too.

Looks great! And I wouldn't worry about breaking it in, the engines are tested at factory

Thanks! I think the lights look fantastic at night too! Went to Tesco last night and on locking/unlocking a few people were looking at it in the car park! ????

This is my own car now (have had company cars for years) so naturally I am taking it very easy and not over revving etc...!

Thank you for noticing PekoSI!! ????

Welcome  ;)

In that case please explain why on earth would there be instructions about it in the manual? Seems to me it's there for a reason.
