Passanger seat rattles when empty

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just discovered that the passanger seat rattles when no one is seating. On every little bump or uneven road it make a mild noise. I figured out that the seat height adjuster is ratteling. If i try to move the seat up or down then it stops for a while and then it comes again.

Any thought what is causing it? Its only 10 days old car. :(

Nearly came off the road tonight trying to suss out the rattle. Will fiddle with height adjuster tomorrow. Also passenger side rattle from dash area near vent.

It's in for bumper scrape paint on Monday, will ask them to check out the 2 rattles.

Turn music up louder then you won't notice it? Lol sorry I don't know what to seriously suggest

Stick a taxi plate on the back and pick up a passenger - it's an octavia after all!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I've actually noticed a rattle too but thought it was my wee ones seat in the back. Think I better check!

I've got that too. The seat height adjuster knocks against the plastic surround. A small piece of sticky felt protector stuff fixed it.

There's also a metallic rattle somewhere under the seat too, and a rattle in the near side A pillar!

Thanks mate atleast i am not the only one. Wouldnt mind trying the home remedy however shouldnt the dealer be fixing it as the car is not even 2 weeks old..

A rattle from the A pillar and passenger side air vent will sound familiar to a number of Octavia II owners. I was hoping they would have sorted that out on the new one

My 2013 MK2 didnt rattle when I got it, nearly 9k on it now has a few, another 9k will probably have a few more.

Lets face it, its not a 120k Bentley; if you get the dealer to look at these things they wont waste much time on it; theyll either not fix it or make it worse.

Me, I just think its a 20k Skoda not an overengineered (and debatably overpriced) luxury car that shouldnt rattle so why worry too much? Turn up that stereo!

I am so sorry mate. Is this how you measure the quality of the car? If its not a £100 bentley then no matter what you have to live with these minor issues????

There is a reason why skoda has no. 1 mark in customer satisfaction. I understand its your opinion however, I am surprised that you have had issues with your car and rather than taking your car to the dealer you are convincing your self saying "its just a 20K skoda".

I am not sure what kind if dealers you have who wouldn't waste their time looking at the issue however, my dealer is so helpful and has already identified the problem and booked it in for a check.

I am not being rude. Its just my thinking. All I want to sat is: you have customer rights and warranty for a reason. Have it checked. If your dealer isnt cooperating then try a different one or call SKODA UK..

I've had the passenger side A pillar rattle too, it's was coming from the top where it meets the head lining. I massaged it for about 3 mins and not had a peep from it since, must have just needed a little TLC  Not had the seat height adjuster rattle yet but had plenty of others, more than my old 90,000 mile Superb II. This car is definitely not as well screwed together as the MkII Octy either imo, real shame as the technology they have shelled out on blows everything else out of the water at this price. Anyone found a fix for the rattly door top trim yet, when I rest my arm on it, it clicks against the metal part of the door, SWMBOs MkII is over 4 yrs old and door trim is still solid as a rock and made of lovely cushioned squidgy plastic.

Had a number of rattles with mine, build quality not as good as my MKII.

The 2 worst ones I've had, which I think I've resolved are the plastic of the instrument surround on the dash was making loud noise when going over rough road or bumps - fixed with some sponge wedged betweeen it and the top of the dash.

Other one has driven me potty for weeks..I think I've got it....rattling coming from the back...believe it's coming from the plastic underneath the back seat centre arm rest - have actually stuffed a thin towel all around this and pushed the arm rest back into place - seems to have done the job.

But agree with you, several niggly dash and plastic rattles which I don't care for and have to resolve with my trusty foam if I hear any...got a canton too but have been listening for rattles!

I also had the instrument binnacle issue, cured mine by squirting WD40 all round the gaps then agitating the whole thing for a few mins, then wiped off any surplus spray with tissue paper, it took a few miles to fully take effect but not had a peep for weeks now.

Hello Mate,

I had the same issue as well. I would say call skoda customer service uk and have a case registered and then take it to another dealer.
