Is my Columbus faulty ?

Featured Replies

Had the volume up to almost half way today (no one else in the car) and the drop is noticeable in medium as well as high.

Didn't bother trying low as I expect it won't do anything worth bothering with.

None of this kicks in until the volume display / green slider gets to about 1/3 or 1/4 though.

Just a random thought: I wonder if it is also speed sensitive...

Presumably you have gone into the Set-up menu and selected the maximum volume reduction (or whatever they call it)? Or are you using the way it was set on delivery?

I've set it to 'High' (maximum reduction).

I didn't get it from the factory so can't comment on that. I bought it used about 4 years ago hence how I used it in my Octavia until November when I got the Yeti.

I have it set on maximum (though have tried various other settings for comparison).  It seems logical that it should just reduce the media volume in a similar way to the PDC which virtually mutes it on the 'high' setting (and is how I remember the Columbus in my Octavia working).

I thought there might have been more responses to compare with by now - are KBPhoto and I the only members with Columbus' (Columbuses?) in our Yeti's ?.  I was hoping either to find someone who said there's was working (so I could go back to Skoda CS and say mine must be faulty), or get a group of people all saying their's doesn't work so that it's not just me complaining about it  :(

I have a columbus but can't help. I never have any audible sat nav instructions-never have- I've also turned down any previous garmins or built ins. The maxidot prompts are enough thanks. I don't like back or front seat drivers bossing me at all.

But you could put them on, just for a trial, so that you are able to add something positive to this conversation!

Just a thought...

Sorry, Speedsport - I should have mentioned you too  .

When I read your post initially I thought you were saying that yours worked intermittently, which would be a whole new can of worms, but having re-read it, it seems your's is just like KBPhoto's and mine, and works a little at higher volumes.
